Urban Risk Lab's "ADAPT" Takes Second Place at MIT EECS 6A-E Startup Pitch Day 2026

January 15, 2026

Urban Risk Lab's Sabrina Su (MEng'26) presented the ADAPT project at the MIT EECS Alliance 6A Startup Track Pitch Day 2026, where the project placed second overall. The event brought together student-led teams to pitch early-stage ventures to an audience of judges, mentors, and industry partners.

ADAPT is a planning toolkit designed to support local governments in disaster preparedness and recovery planning. Drawing on fieldwork and development conducted through the Urban Risk Lab, Su's presentation highlighted gaps in current local planning processes and proposed solutions to significantly bring down costs and make disaster planning more effective through the use of ADAPT.

This award reflects growing interest in tools that support scenario-based planning for climate and disaster risks among both local governments and private investors. The Pitch Day marked a milestone for the ADAPT project as it continues to develop and test its approach.
