Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia has the vision to modernize their currently degrading public transport system with a tram network, a monorail line and intermodal stations. The city plans to prioritize investment and densify those corridors. Given the opportunity to strategically propose development along these new transportation lines, it is the ideal moment to build community resilience into the process. Transport hubs, new buildings, parks and streets, projects on reclaiming public life will be designed with the dual purpose for flood and earthquake resilience.
